Hell and High Water

Another day of persistent & very heavy rain and high winds.
A horrid day.  All photos taken from the safety of my car!

B6270 flooded in many places between Reeth and Keld
made ever deeper as water pours off the fields through
gateways and gaps in the walls.

The river at Muker

Water streaming down to the swollen river from every direction.

Flooded fields and pastures.

Wainswath Falls roars in full flood.

The river churns angrily.

I Never Thought I'd See The Day!

I gave Chris a book, 'The Shepherd's Life' by James Rebanks, for Christmas.
I wasn't convinced he'd read it but I wanted to. What better reason when
choosing a pressie for one's husband!

Chris will openly admit he is no reader however as I constantly
rave on about The Shepherd's Life to anyone who will listen ....
Chris caved in, picked it up and now can't tear himself away from it.

I love this book.  No airy fairy, romantic nonsense here. Just plain talking,
hill farming reality so if you REALLY want to find out about hill farming
and REALLY want to know what makes a hill farmer tick you'll love it too.

When 4x4 is just not enough

 Your carraige awaits!
Sunday lunch out is rarely straight forward when home is as remote as
Pry House Farm however we had a super meal with friends at www.blackswanhotel.com
  in Ravenstonedale.
The views as we travelled over the fell in the tractor where worth the alternative mode of transport.

Looking back towards Swaledale as we travel west to Cumbria.
The sheep like the salt that the gritter leaves behind!

Not easy taking photos whilst being jostled about by Deere John!
It was good to see the gritter from Cumbria out even on a Sunday.
