Bovine Baby Boom!

Born on the open moor .....

.... when the weather changes this 2 day old calf is taken to find shelter.

As young as this they can easily keep up with their mother .....

.....who soon finds some tall rushes to act as a barrier.

Whilst all this was going on Chris noticed that the cow in the background was a calvin'.

And a couple of hours later the broody cow had her calf and was moved into the pasture.
Its he sweet?

The Old 'Uns are Often Best!

Chris turns the grass using his Massey 35.

We've had a lot of rain and the ground is soft.
The old tractors are not as heavy as our modern vehicles and tread lightly over the ground.

Rubbish Summer - Blame the Moon!

The eclipse in March made the sun appear as a crescent moon in the middle of the day.

My father-in-law always said 'When there's summat happening with t' moon, weathers always bad'

Old wives tale?

We have had an eclipse and a blue moon but NO SUMMER so maybe he was right.

31st July - A Blue Moon.
We get a blue moon when a full moon occurs twice in the same month.
It won't happen again until 2018.
